This study investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to foster sustainable urban development and
strengthen security in Benue State. The primary objectives include evaluating the current level of AI adoption for urban
development and security, identifying key AI technologies and solutions suitable for these sectors, assessing the potential
impact of AI-driven initiatives on sustainable growth and safety, analyzing the challenges faced in embedding AI within
Benue State’s urban infrastructure, and proposing strategic approaches for successful AI implementation. The research
is grounded in the AI-Driven Urban Security and Development Model. A qualitative survey methodology was employed,
involving in-depth interviews with 14 key stakeholders to gather comprehensive insights. The collected data were analyzed
qualitatively, aligning with the study’s objectives. Findings indicate that AI tools such as predictive analytics, surveillance
systems, and intelligent resource management platforms are vital for enhancing urban efficiency and safety. However,
persistent challenges including infrastructural deficiencies, concerns over data privacy, and limited technical expertise
remain significant barriers. The study concludes that strategic adoption of AI holds considerable promise for advancing
sustainable urban growth and security, contingent upon supportive policy frameworks, capacity-building efforts, and active
community participation. It is recommendations AI dedicated infrastructure established and implemented for robust data
governance policies to ensure secure and inclusive integration within Benue State’s urban development initiatives.
